Pentimenti is pleased to continue its ongoing partnership with the Hyde Park Art Center to host another session of Documentary Video Boot Camp, an eight session workshop covering the essentials of documentary filmmaking. This hands-on class will explore different phases of the production process, including pre-production, cinematography, and editing, as well as a final session on documentary ethics. Through illustrative examples from various films and a unique project based learning approach, participants will learn how to conceive of a compelling subject, shoot an interview, edit footage, and much more.

This class will appeal to: documentarians interested in workshopping a project; artists, curators, and conservators who wish to learn best practices for using video for documentation and marketing purposes; and first-time filmmakers looking for a crash course on production essentials. All experience levels are welcome!
