We are delighted to announce that Hairy Who & The Chicago Imagists will have its Manhattan premiere at the New Museum on Sunday, October 11th at 3 pm.

The film will be introduced by New Museum Assistant Curator Natalie Bell and followed by a Q&A with the film's director, Leslie Buchbinder. 

The screening is presented in conjunction with the New Museum's exhibition Barbara Rossi: Poor Traits -  Rossi's first museum exhibition in New York and the first significant presentation of her work since the 1990s. More information about the show can be found here

Screening, Panel Discussion, & Exhibition Celebrating SAIC's 150th Anniversary

Hairy Who & The Chicago Imagists will be screened as part of the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The screenings will take place at the LeRoy Neiman Center (37 S. Wabash).

The Tuesday screening will be followed by a panel discussion entitled "What Is To Be Influenced?", which will examine what it means to be influenced for artists living in the contemporary visual culture. Panelists will include SAIC faculty and Hairy Who filmmakers. The discussion will also be accompanied by a pop-up exhibition of Imagist material from SAIC's Joan Flasch Artist Book Collection and Flaxman Library.

Gallery talk with IU Art Museum Curator Nan Brewer at 2:00 pm

Presented in conjuntion with the Indiana University Art Museum as part of the "Art and a Movie" series.

Before the screening, join Nan Brewer, the IU Art Museum’s Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper, for a discussion of a selection of prints, paintings, and sculpture by artists of the “Chicago School,” including Jim Nutt, Ed Paschke, David Sharpe, Jordan Davies, H. C. Westermann, and Hollis Sigler. The gallery talk will begin at 2:00 pm in the IU Art Museum's Gallery of the Art of the Western World, Doris Steinmetz Kellett Endowed Gallery of Twentieth-Century Art, on the first floor. The Museum is located at 1133 E. 7th St., Bloomington.
